Painter : Gladys Msele

Gladys Msele was born on the 20th May 1966, at Emadolobheni, in Natal.Gladys did her education at Sizathina High School, where she got her Standard 9, and left at the end of 1983. Gladys is single, and has four children.

Gladys Msele, heard about Ardmore through Beatrice Nyembe.  Gladys came to ask Fee Halsted-Berning to teach her to be a painter, and started with Ardmore in 1993.  Gladys had never worked else where before.  She works alongside Mavis Shabalala, Thembi Zikala and Ottilia Nxumalo.

Gladys enjoys painting Zebra’s.  Gladys’s painting is bold, direct and bright.  “It is in your face” and beautifully composed.   Her works are eye catching and she likes to have a white ground showing.
