Victor was born on the Ardmore Farm in the Champagne Valley in 1973.After leaving school he headed for Johannesburg and found employment at Shoprite. However, there was always a huge draw to return to his family and friend Vuzi Ntshalintshali who had made his mark at Ardmore, and in 2001, he returned home to find an outlet for his hugely creative spirit.
Victor's work is particularly inventive and definitely not for the faint-hearted.Nonetheless, his whimsical, sometimes grotesque, sculptures have a fascination of their own.Sometimes he adorns traditional ceramics with big-eyed frogs and chameleons, crocodiles and snakes. At other times he uses the form of the animal or reptile itself to create jugs and tureens.
Victor's unusual pieces with their originality and special fascination have found their place in Ardmore's exhibitions around the world. His work has been shown at the Christie's London exhibition in 2003 and 2004, at the City Arts Council exhibition in Edinburgh to celebrate ten years of democracy in South Africa and at the 'Men of Ardmore' exhibition at the Gallery on the Square in Johannesburg.Victor also accompanied Fee Halsted - Berning to London in 2005. |
