Vuzi, half - brother to legendary Bonnie Ntshalintshali, was considerably younger than his siblings and as a result withdrew into his own small world where he found comfort drawing people, horses, cows and the animals and birds of nature. He began his three - dimentional sculpting when he was only three, finding time to spare when accompanied the elder boys into the hills, herding cattle and goats. With his sensitive nature he also developed a love for horses and still loves to ride.
Financial constraints curtained the education of this astutely aware young man. However in 1995, after his mother was killed, a new world opened to him at Ardmore where Fèe Halsted-Berning began his training in ceramic painting. After only a year at Ardmore, he left for Johannesburg where he hoped to find success as an independant artist.
When he returned to Ardmore he took the oppotunity to change direction and was taught the art of throwing by a young American student. He quickly discovered his creative niche as a thrower and sculptor.Vuzi won the ABSA ceramic sculptural award in 2002 and his creations received the highest acclaim at Christie's exhibition in January 2003.At Christie's auction a year later, his beauti ful eagle and fish vase fetched the highest price of any Ardmore piece exhibited.
