Southern Guild

For the Joburg Art Fair 2010 the Department of Trade and Industry combined with Artlogic and Source to create A Southern Guild show space. It brought together iconic and innovative design and art pieces from South Africa's creative industries.

For the 2010 collection 40 of South Africa's leading contemporary designers and collaborating artists, including Ardmore, were chosen to exhibit their one of a kind pieces, limted editions and new designs.

Ardmore moved away from its traditional colourful style by glazing the unpainted bisque sculptures and allowing the creamware pieces to stand in the strength of their sculptural form. The candelabra, urn and teapot were sculped by 3 of Ardmore's top artists - Victor Shabalala, Sondelani Ntshalintshali and Sfiso Mvelase. The creamware pieces from Ardmore looked elegant and complimented the many other works exhibited by Southern Guild.
