Abel Mohloakoana was born in Lidgetton in the KZN Midlands, and matriculated in 2017.

He then enrolled in a training course at Ardmore’s neighboring creative enterprise, Caversham Press, where he learned book binding, printing, mono typing and dry point under the tutelage of Malcom Christian.

Christian recognized Abel’s talents and suggested that he join Ardmore. Following Christian’s advice, Abel joined Ardmore in 2018.

Abel found his place in the design studio, where he began drawing and painting motifs for the Sabie Collection under Catherine Berning’s mentorship.

Abel has also added ceramic painting to his skill set and is learning graphic design.
