Slulamile Mlambo

Slulamile Mlambo was born in 1985 on the 29th of March at Maqumbi, KwaMaphumulo.
He was raised by his paternal family at Escourt where he also completed his Matric at Sizathina High School.

In the early 2000’s Slu realized that he has a passion for art and began to nurse it from thereon. He started gumboot dancing in Primary which he enjoyed very much. Then as he grew he started sculpting with river clay all the animals his grandfather Gweni Ntshalintshali who is also the father of late artist Bonnie Ntshalintshali.

Slu was introduced to Ardmore by his aunt Bonnie Ntshalintshali who is one of Ardmore’s first few artists, she is also the one who inspired the boys with their river clay sculptures that later started to sell on the side of streets, which grew his passion for creating the amazing sculptures that he does today.

Slu’s is inspired by his father Richard Mlambo as he would and still guides him in all he does, and supports him in all his art dreams and aspirations.

Slulamile Mlambo is grateful that his work is his passion. He is even more grateful that he is now an internationally recognized artist because of Ardmore.

Accolades: Slu’s sculpture won at the Investec Cape Art Fair in February 2024.
